Case Study 4. Insurance Fraud

The Client

A major stock exchange listed insurance company.

The Problem

A private jet owned by a HNWI and insured by our client. The aircraft was detained in an unfriendly country and without proper legal justification. Appeals for its release seemed initially positive, until a high ranking public official ordered the asset held indefinitely. The owner then reported the asset stolen and tried to claim against the policy.

The Outcome

Leveraging our network of high level contacts in the political and legal communities in the country, we were able to:
  • Ascertain that this was a criminal plot to defraud the insurer
  • Identify the planners of the fraud
  • Reveal the corrupt political/judicial support the criminals relied on
  • Open direct dialogue with more influential political actors in-country
  • Secure a rapid release order from the highest office in the country
We reported and liaised directly with the client’s senior management throughout. The HNWI dropped the matter and the policy was cancelled. No further charges were sought against the owner and our client made no public comment on the issue.
